8 am saturday morning construction!!!!!

IS WEEKLY 8 AM SATURDAY CONSTRUCTION REALLY LEGAL?!!!!!

Here it goes again, construction/demolition started this week and this morning at 8am I was woken by the "joyful" sounds of very loud shoveling, scraping, dragging, dropping and talking. This morning the Zwirners' construction crew are excavating and moving around big loads of brick, earth and stones. Now, as I sit at my computer, I can barely hear the radio which is set at the volume I usually listen to. In a moment, I will get up or rather give up, and turn up the volume.

For two years during the last construction project of the Zwirners, we were disturbed for most of our Saturdays by their interminable construction noise. I was under the impression that one had to apply each time for a one time specially approved Saturday work permit.

We should find out it this is legal.

Would Brooke Astor have put up with this?!!!!!!

Do you think that this time the Zwirners will at least be living next door to their Saturday morning noise?

Doubt it.

You have to have an off hour vairance. Regular hours for construction are from 7-6 Monday to Friday and 10-4 sat and Sunday (I am not 100% on the Sunday thing). All work permits must be in plain view to the public. If they work outside of these hours a After Hours permit has to be posted with the work being done(dry wall etc). Make sure they are doing that particular work during alternate hours. If they are in violation, call 311 and lodge a complaint. They do track these and can be submitted electronicaly with pictures etc. Its not much recourse but its something. You can check for other probs with building by address

Just let them finish the job already. The sooner the finish, the sooner the construction equipment and people will be gone. But, we all know that is not what concerns you. All these complaints are just a ploy to haress the owner. Like, I said before, if you guys were my neighbors and acting like this, you would be in a world of hurt. You know, the old '80's style that you guys so much.

I've had construction in my bulding, outside my building, and in the basement of my building. I live on the first floor.
Now the super wants to create his personal gym right under my toilet, shower kitchen area. Only floorboards separate me from the basement. I hear everything.
Can he do this legally??? And my shower has no water pressure. They are refusing to fix it.
